On Friday, Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, traveled from Kanpur to Fatehpur to meet the family of Dalit victim Hariom Valmiki, who was killed by a mob. An official confirmed the visit.
Hariom was brutally beaten to death by a crowd on the night of October 1-2 in the Unchahar area of Raebareli, suspected of being a drone thief. Disturbing videos of the assault and his body circulated online, sparking widespread outrage.
The senior Congress leader and Raebareli MP departed from Chakeri Airport, where his special flight arrived from Delhi. According to an official, he traveled approximately 80 kilometers by road to reach Fatehpur, the residence of Valmiki's family.
During his visit, Gandhi expressed his condolences to the grieving family and assured them of all possible assistance. A family member, Chaudhary Bhakt Das, mentioned that Rahul Gandhi is currently in discussions with the affected family.
